I ran across this wonderful story called "There are things that are hidden from the eyes of the everyday" by Simon Sheppard, in Bending the Landscape: Fantasy (edited by Nicola Griffith and Stephen Pagel). What I'm about to quote is a portion of the speech one of the characters makes at the end. I found it worth pondering.

"...this world is but a dance and we are merely dancers. Any meaning discovered in this dance, once grasped at, once written down on parchment, is doomed to vanish before our eyes. Thus mankind is fated to forever search for magic, and insofar as we search, we become that which we seek. True wisdom lies in knowing that the journey and the goal are one.
...For truth is not our joy, and truth is not our sorrow. It is merely a secret which we already know, though we may keep it hidden from ourselves. But we shall never taste of truth till we let ourselves become that which we are, and indeed always have been, from the moment of creation. Though we are not this flesh, yet our flesh is all we have in this world. And so from the center of your being, come join us in the sweetly whirling dance of life."

When [livejournal.com profile] lotussilverfire went looking through previous posts, she mentioned that there are gaping holes the farther back you look. Yes, once upon a time, I didn't update this thing everyday. Now, I am an LJ zombie! *gasp*

Anyway, my flame dame and I went out this evening armed with 2 free movie passes. We ended up seeing Changing Lanes since it was one of the 3 movies we could use the passes to see. Well, about the time Ben Affleck is getting ready to delete Samuel L. Jackson's credit report, lightning hit the theatre and all the power went out. So, we took our impromptu intermission and enjoyed inhaling large amounts of burning tobacco smoke with other patrons waiting for power to be restored.

The movie itself wasn't that bad, but the downtime was kinda fun. By the way, caramel Italian Ices taste like shit.

Ok, there's this guy at work I've had like a mojor crush on for like the last month. Just randomly started one day when he hugged me out of the blue. You know, he's straight but he and I flirt a lot. Well, tinute, out of nowhere, we're slapping dough and talking and he startes doing Romeo's soliloquy from the balcony, and I respond with Juliet's answering speech. We ended up doing most of the Shakespeare we had in commen while making pizzas. It was just so odd, I decided to post it.

[livejournal.com profile] lotussilverfire and I cast Beltaine this evening, and once again proved that Circle can be fun. Of course, any other pagan/wiccan probably would have walked out in the middle when we cast for better sex among the gods, but hey....

Went to go see Murder by Numbers with my fag hag roomie ([livejournal.com profile] lotussilverfire) this afternoon. Good movie, even if the murderers were kind of gay subtexty in a creepy kinda way.
Got home in time for all the drama centered on our former roommate who has been casting swine right and left. Hmm, I shoulda bought more popcorn for the show.
I have a few short story ideas now, but I need to do something interesting with them now. Time to beak with the doomed romance routine and just write something creepy again.
Oh yeah, and we got to play with the ferrets at the pet store. I want one, if only because fish don't make good familiars.

More drama than I can stand. I swear, who needs soap operas around here? I swear, I just sit here and I get dragged into things I don't need.
