As much as people make fun of my for it, my earliest memory ois waking up on my 3rd birthday. Not much else, but I remember waking up that day. When I was younger, I used to wonder why I couldn't remember going to bed the night before.

Oddly enough I had a couple of memories that made absolutely no sense until some years ago when I told my mother about them. Apparently I have two fleeting memories that occurred when I was about three months old and another at 6 months old. I think the reason I have those brief memories is the fact that patterns of things had caught my undivided attention. According to mother she said I stared very intently at those particular areas, and seemed to be memorizing them. I don't recall any sounds...just those images.

I don't know if it is reconstructed or not. My parents and brother went to the New York World Fair - I am guessing it was in 1965 and I was about a year old. I was left behind with Mrs. Geiger who ran the local baby gulag. I remember being in a crib and very unhappy. Abandonment issues have been a bane ever since. Strangely one of my next memories was visiting the family in Austria and my parents, brother, Aunt, and my American surrogate grandparents heading to Vienna leaving me behind with Omi who made me preiselbeern fritters - I would have been three.
