CD101 is like oldies for Xers...

I've been promising to update this thing for a few days. Currently, I'm using one of the roomies 'puters, since the one I normally use is still in 800x600 with 16 color display.
Well, tonite I found out how out of touch with reality I am when I found out there's a hurricane down South. I really haven't been home that much. sarya and borracho are both in the path of the storm, so I'm really hoping the two of them are ok right now.
The long march to overtime continues *does happy double digit OT pay dance*. I'm at 20 hours for 2 days. If things go like they have been, my 8 hour close on Sunday will all be netting me the BIG $$$. I still need to figure out when Alice Cooper is at Polaris, since I wanna see that. Eddie has volunteered to come along for the ride.
Let's see...My Best Friend is a Vampire was on two nights ago, and Stay Tuned was on last night. I love 80's cheese. And the latter gets bonus points for having John Ritter in drag.
Speaking of John Ritter, my nice roomies taped Buffy for me tonight. I must go watch it since invisible_sun and narcolepticcat have both posted about it now. I need my Xander fix. Now if I could just figure out when the hell they broadcast Angel here in Columbus...
I have tomorrow and Thursday off!!! This means I can slay the bathroom with Comet! (it makes your mouth turn green...)
So tonight at work, I got sick of listening to Bob Seager (I really hate "Turn the Page", and the Metallica cover didn't improve my opinion), so we flipped the radio to CD101. Randy, my favorite driver, refers to it as Oldies for Gen Xers. More Grunge than you can shake an unwashed flannel shirt at. I mean, when was the last time you heard a normal station play Better Than Ezra?
In the meantime, taocub has given me a bunch of food for thought that I'm still trying to process. I seriously need to get an e-mail to him about the amount of shit we talked about when last we talked.
*sighs* Well, if all goes well, I can get through the backlog on my friends list long enough to suggest smurfchick watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail again.
I hope you all have shelter from the storm, and someone to guard you from harm tonight.

I do realize, of course, that the answer to your question was "African or European," but since when do I do anything the normal way? :)

I haven't seen Grail since high school, though. I feel like it's a high school movie and should stay there. :)

I read part of the book when I was in elementary school. Sci fi is really not my thing. Then again, neither is reading comprehension. :)

There's a radio station here in Washington, DC that has a special "All '90s" show at least once a week (coincidentally, it's known as DC101). Personally I find it pretty astonishing that the '90s nostalgia movement is already kicking in less than 3 years after the decade stumbled to a close. Maybe it's just that today's twentysomethings grew up mired in the orgy of nostalgia that started with the Baby Boom generation's veneration of the '50s and '60s and has continued through multiple '70s and '80s revivals . . . they're practically pre-programmed to gaze fondly back at the past even if the past was only ten minutes ago.

Gee, if you're such a John Ritter fan, how ever will you decide whether to watch/tape Buffy or 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter every Tuesday night at 8?!?!?

P.S. Not to change the subject ENTIRELY, but just out of curiosity, is there any chance your OSU connections (i.e., mom) would have any ability to score me a few tickets to the OSU/Michigan game on Novmber 23rd? Or is that a simply ludicrous notion, given all the hype and demand? I'd be willing to pay, of course.

*chuckles* Nice to know that all of us X'ers are programmed to dwell. Fortunatly, no one has bothered digging out chestnuts like NKOTB yet.

As for Mr. Ritter, 2 Tv's, 2 VCRS!

And for the UM game, I'm having enough fun trying to get my student tickets or the game, let alone anyone else. I'll see what I can do, but no promises...

There's a joke or comment to be made here about Tiffany posing for Playboy, but I'm just not precisely sure what it is.

And NKOTB were already riding the nostalgia wave with their last tour before they broke up. I know that my 18-year-old (at the time) brother and his friends weren't going to see them in 1993/4 because they LIKED the music. And lets face it, neither Jordan Knight's nor Joe McIntyre's "comeback" single was really chart-worthy on their own merits.

Since you never post about classes and such I didn't actually realize you were enrolled at OSU. I understand the difficulty, and the potentially ridiculous nature of my request, I just thought I'd lay it out there and see what might come of it. I have a cousin and his wife that live in Columbus that I want to visit some time in the next six months, and thought a game (especially a big one) might make a good excuse. Maybe the OSU-Indiana basketball game on the day after my birthday, if the football game can't work out (as you can see, I'm only interested in the events that will be hardest to get into!!).

*ROFL* Classes just started today. I'm not about to post about the "Great American Southern Writers" seminar I'm taking this quarter. Who needs a post about how much I hate Faulkner?

I barley remember the NKOTB final tour. They made much better jokes than music.

And Basketball is generally easier to get tickets for for some reason. I have yet to figure that one out.
