Before I post tonight's update, I did offer comment space in my journal for [livejournal.com profile] kylewallace to continue the debate that got started over in [livejournal.com profile] gareon's journal. This is open to all comers, since just about everyone on my friend list is all over the freakin' map on the current state of the US foriegn and domestic policy, and to be honest, I'd just like to have another record breaking comment number again. For the record, the invite was issued here. Damn it, I broke my promise to be apolitical.

Past that, my evening consisted of going out for coffee with [livejournal.com profile] gothic_oreo and [livejournal.com profile] lotussilverfire at Staufs in Grandview. This got interesting and entertaining for the other patrons listening to us debate. Yes, boys and girls, I broke the apolitical vow twice this evening. It all started with a conversation on why I'm becoming Jewish after all these years, versus remaining pagan. It proceeded into Xtian bashing, and just bitching about fundies in all of the world's religions. Lotus didn't seem to believe me when I pointed out that yes, there are Wiccan fundies out there, and they are just as scary as Xtian fundies. I also bitched about how some Pagans never volunteer, never try to take responsability for the world around them, etc. Although I have yet to meet a Buddhist fundy or a Hindu fundy, but I'm sure where ever ignorence is found, so is fundementalism.
We then proceeded to rant about politics for a while. I got distracted by a cute ass halfway through the conversation about suspension of elections in time of war, but based on the arguement, I didn't miss much.
So, we came home, and I'm now here relaxing. At some point, I'll go more in detail, but I want this up sooner rather than later.

Peepin in for the first time HehHeh I'm not quite up to any more debating right now, as I'm very tired, but know you will be able to rile me up sooner or later. Thanks for the invite.:))I'm adding you so I can keep up with your radical ideas lol.

Hey I understand...I very rarely if ever get into debates.

I'll return the favor though.

Oh oh ... now you're in for it !!! Kyle has been known for loooong debates. He's American to the core (nothin' wrong with that - look at your history) ... and a "Democrat", somewhat crazed by the desert sun. But we love him anyway. I was thinking of chiming in on Gareon's piece ... but busy packing for a trip to England. But I'll be back in 3 weeks - so look after the 'runt' while I'm gone, Kyle.
And tell your government to stop pissing-off the Philippinos AND us Canadians. ;-)

Oh ... and HI, James - great journal

Well, long debates are always fun, Have fun across the pond, and if they won't listen to half the elected officials, why would they listen to me?:)

I think the Wiccan fundies are frequently scarier than the Xtian ones...

I would tend to agree...but the difference being that they don't have the visibility of the more vocal Xtian ones.

Shalom!

Apolitical vows are only useful to those (the unwashed, the drug infested, the criminally inclined) who want you to suppress your common sense so they can ride roughshot over your sense of *fairness* in order to push their leftist agenda...that almost always includes the destruction of the social order in the United States of America and by default, in Israel...almost always; but it's best to always ask before assuming.

I'm encouraged to see that you're flexing your opinions. You will find that as you begin growing into your Jewish identity, that your views will forever be framed within a Jewish context. It happened to me, it appears that it is now happening to you.

Leaving Paganism for Judaism and Hashem: Perhaps you've figured out that you mistakenedly confused the five pointed star, with the six pointed star..now you're making thing right. Just an observation.

Shabbat Shalom!

*chuckles* Actually the really weird part is I told evveryone when I went pagan the entire point was to find something better than the Xtianity of my youth, which I no longer agreed with.

And Yes, I would say that my veiw grow more complex the more research I do.

There will be none of the name calling or attack comments in my journal.

This is a warning. If people want to discuss, that's why I posted this. However, attacking an opponent is not good form.

If you wish to discuss this, you know where I am.

Ok so I have never met any wiccan fundies, and since we really don't try to evangilize I just can't imagine them being as bad at Christian fundies. That is just my take on things. ALL the pagans I have met throughout my short 25 years on this earth have had no desire to convert anyone or even to discuss their religion with anyone unless directly asked about it. It is not a tenant of our faith to convert the wayward souls in this world to Wicca, unlike the Christians. Pagans do volunteer and try to take care of the world around. If you hadn't noticed their is a section of one of the highways here in Columbus that has been adopted by a pagan group. They do that whole fun clean the highway thing. Granted it is only one example but I don't see you out doing anything either ;-)

We then proceeded to rant about politics for a while. I got distracted by a cute ass halfway through the conversation about suspension of elections in time of war, but based on the arguement, I didn't miss much.

Do we bore of offend you? I am pretty sure that I didn't make any of my "jew-hater" comments last night. Just asked random questions about the change from polytheism to monotheism and discussed where to move if Shrub-boi decides to suspend elections in 2004, which if I remember correctly you were saying you would move to Canada. =)

Ok, I got called on my generalization here. Hmm, well, for my part, I usually pick up litter in parks and other places. It isn't major, but I do what I can. And yes, as I believe [livejournal.com profile] gothic_oreo pointed out, the more pagan than thou types only show up withing a coven, or at a gathering.

Nah, it was during the bit when you two were fighting over France and England. A really sexy man walked by. And yes, you offend me. you should bow before the wisdom of your husband.;)
