Ok, I have two songs I keep hearing on the radio that I can't find titles for, and one of those I can't even give you artist or general era.

The first one I'm pretty sure is Dame Elton John and the chorus is something about the New York Times saying G-d is dead...

The second song I want to say is late 70's early 80's. Lyrics are something about you're crying now. BUT...it has an awesome sax riff.

Any clue, music people?

The first one sounds like Levon by Elton John.

Levon wears his war wound like a crown
He calls his child Jesus
`Cause he likes the name
And he sends him to the finest school in town

Levon, Levon likes his money
He makes a lot they say
Spend his days counting
In a garage by the motorway

He was born a pauper to a pawn on a Christmas day
When the New York Times said God is dead
And the war's begun
Alvin Tostig has a son today

And he shall be Levon
And he shall be a good man
And he shall be Levon
In tradition with the family plan
And he shall be Levon
And he shall be a good man
He shall be Levon

Levon sells cartoon balloons in town
His family business thrives
Jesus blows up balloons all day
Sits on the porch swing watching them fly

And Jesus, he wants to go to Venus
Leaving Levon far behind
Take a balloon and go sailing
While Levon, Levon slowly dies

Yes, that would be it. I had no idea where it was in EJ's catalogue, so I really didn't feel like digging through his archives:)

I don't know why, but I've been in an EJ mood of late.

Totally TMI, but I usually get into an EJ mood around the time I would normally get PMS (except I've never actually gotten PMS, thankfully!).

that might do it. A certain BF ran off to Vegas this week and Oestara is really kicking up the emotions.

I can see how that could definitely do it!

I hope the week goes by quickly and he arrives back home, safe and sound.

He'd better, or I'm going to have to go kick his ass.

As it's got about the best Sax Riff ever put into a Pop/Rock tune.

Windin' your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day
You'll drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold.
It's got so many people but it's got no soul
And it's taking you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought it had everything

You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're tryin'
You're tryin' now
Another year and then you'll be happy
Just one more year and then you'll be happy
But you're cryin'
You're cryin' now

Way down the street there's a lad in his place
He opens the door he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything

He's got this dream about buyin' some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he'll settle down there's a quiet little town
And forget about everything

But you know he'll always keep movin'
You know he's never gonna stop movin
Cus he's rollin'
He's the rollin' stone

And when you wake up it's a new mornin'
The sun is shinin' it's a new morning
You're goin'
You're goin' home.

Hallelujah. That's been bugging me almost as much as tracking down "Sunset Grill" by one of the Eagles I believe. But now I know and can go grab:)

I'm so sad that Levon was found through googling. It is one of my favorite EJ songs (and considering I am a huge EJ fan) I could have answered right away...but I didn't, so I will sit here and mope about it.
