Nov. 5th, 2003 06:56 amOk, let's see, what's been going on with me?
Nothing of interest or value. I am, however, escorting Jonda to see Rent later today. Which means I should go do laundry today so I don't smell like one of the characters.
Mom is recovering well from eye surgury, and getting in trouble, it would seem. She went with her boyfriend to Maryland to accept some medallion thingie from UM (this in and of itself is a story. She donated a portion of her old sheet music to UM since Ohio State didn't want it. A few months later, she recieved notice that her contribution was enough to make her part of the "President's Club" of donators. Thus the trip to the coast.)
Well, it seems they ate in a bar in the hotel they were staying in, and a fight broke out. They first noticed the fight when some guy landed on their table, breaking it with his head. Now, as we all know, violence begets violence. The fight spread, and mom and Sam were at Ground Zero. My 68 year old mother promptly stands up, begins making her way out from the combatents, politely excsing herself every few steps. Only my mother would do that instead of hiding underneath the wrecked table. Sam claims she acted just like my grandmother would have in the same situation. Personally, I can see Nana hauling off and kicking the ever living snot out of people, but Nana was a lady, and a Wellsley Woman at that. So we'll keep pretending that Nana was dignified enough not to kcik some poor gladiator in the groin area.
I'm still upset that Federated is closing Lazarus downtown though. When I was a LOT younger, Nana used to take me there on my yearly overnight visit with her. We always had lunch at the Chintz Room among the other dowagers, followed by toy and book shopping. Or when we hosted 4 Japanese exchange students and took them to the Colonial Room for dinner, and our waitress spoke fluent Japanese and helped us communicate with our guests. Alas, Lex Wexner has decided that my few remaning childhood memories aren't worth preserving. His loss. I can only hope there will still be anamatronic puppets in the storefront around the December holidays, so I can still stick my nose to the glass like I did as a youngun.
*sigh* Nostalgia.
Lesse, February 2nd, 2004, is gonna be a fun day. You see, on February 2nd, 1994, I wrote myself a letter, to be opened 10 years later. I don't recall why I chose that day, other than I think I worte a letter to myself 3 months prior that I had opened. I think it either involved Chrysalis or Teen Institute, but my memory os hazy. And to be honest, most of the stuff I believed at 17 is now a heap of broken images (Brownie points to anyone who can name where that came from).
