Ah, the fun.
Dec. 2nd, 2008 10:38 amAfter waiting 3 weeks to publish my letter, the paper managed to get this letter in 4 days later.
Re: "Judging people you've never met makes no sense," Saturday, Nov. 29 by James P. Ebert
James, I applaud your desire to be a peacemaker, a noble purpose. And I believe your final statement of having rose-colored glasses may be true. It seems like those glasses are used to filter out sentiments that don't "agree with you." Sometimes when you throw a little light on something the contrast improves and you can see things a bit clearer.
You see this as a "gods" thing.
We see it as a "God" thing.
You see it as judgmental thing.
We see it as a mercy thing.
You see it as condemnation.
We see it as forgiveness.
You see it as life without rules.
We see it as rules to live by.
You see it as religion.
We see it as relationship.
You see it the way you want it to be.
We see it the way God says it is.
You see it as forcing your views.
We see it as sharing the Good News.
You see yourself as a little god.
We see Jesus as the only God.
You interpret what you read to please yourself.
We interpret what we read to find the Truth.
You see all men as children of a god,
You just don't know who that is.
We see all men as children of God,
He has revealed Himself to us in His Son.
It's fair to say that you have carried your erroneous interpretation of Scripture regarding "the priesthood of the believer" to the fullest. It would be wise to become a believer first.
I'm not judging you or anyone else, God has already judged us all and found us guilty. Now, he is offering you His forgiveness and mercy through His Son. It's a good offer. In fact, it's the deal of a lifetime.

I really hate it when people prove my point.
