Well,
lotussilverfire and Jason and I went to the big Glam Rock show at Polaris this evening, featuring Faster Pussycat, Winger, Cinderella, and Poison. I beleve Miss Lotus has a few stories of her own to tell, mainly since my brother and my bitch sis-in-law met us there, but what the hey...
First, We got there at 6:30 and missed the 25 minute Faster Pussycat set. According to Lisa, my sis-in-law, they played 5 songs and sucked. She also entioned that they are now a Goth band, and their lead singer took his pants off.
Then came Winger. After they started playing, yes, I realized I knew some of their music. I shall now go back to trying to forget it. C'mon, 4 guitars and drums? The highlight of the set was my brother making up his own dance for "She's only 17".
It was also during Winger that we began noticing plot lines in the surrounding crowd. Like Glam Boy. He wore a denim jacket, torn spandex shirt and more make-up that Tammy Faye Bakker. Through the course of the concert, he provided us with entertainment. Like dancing and licking his fingers, making out with a girl who promply left in the arms of another man, and then fighting with both the girl and the other man. We also had tye- die and baldy, who were about the only people cheering Kip Winger on. And how can I forget Warrant Boy and Sweaty Teddy? They were four rows down from us making devil hons and trying to get women to come to them. Warrant Boy was kind of cute though.
So after Winger finishes, we go get $5 brats and $3.75 16 oz Cokes. Kind of like being at King's Island without the roller coasters.
Cinderella comes out. Now, I love Cinderella, as does my sis-in-law. The only problem is that their lead singer is doing his damndest to be Steven Tyler. But they played my faves, so it was all good.
I go hit the bathroom as soon as the last chords of "Shake Me" end. (Side note, Erin had never heard them before and kept asking why all their songs had "me" in the title.)
So, Poison comes on finally. Um, how many covers do they do now? I counted 5. Before they play "Something to Believe In", Brett dedicates it to all the 9-11 families. I can sorta understand that, but he continued with this really long flag waving speech with more expletives than I can count. Thus why he's a redneck. CeCe sang one song and he spoke very little. Thank Gods above and below for that. Bobby Dahl is getting cute in his old age. And Rikki Rocket played his drum solo. After his solo though, he grabbed this guy backstage and told us he wanted to introduce him. I thouught Rikki was going to come out for a sec. But no, it was they guy who built his drum kit. So they tear through their hits, and Jason dances like a white band on Soul Train. I got more laughs watching him than any of my bro's stupidity.
One last thing...I almost felt like I was at a mullet convention around some of these people. Fear the mullet.
So, we had fun. Tomorrow is LARP, with Good Chris playing Tremere. *shudder*
