Got up early and mailed my state and federal tax returns, as well as books to GA, IA, and MI.

Mind you, I came home and found I have to mail another book, but since they waited so long to conform, they can wait until Monday to get mailed, since I ain't getting up early again tomorrow to head back up to the PO.

A search on has revealed a complete set of a D&D series I used to swear only one complete set of existed. so, I'm saving credits to get order the full set now, assuming more of my wishlist doesn't pop up.

Been having fun reading Butcher's Captain's Fury, Book 4 of his Codex Alera. Only probelm being it's taken me a while to remember who the hell all these people are; it's been a while since I read the last 3. Still easier to keep track of than Greorge R. R. Martin or Robert Jordan's casts of thousands.

I find it odd eye candy is out in summer clothes when it's 45 degrees today.

Any rate, I need to poop, so I'm outta here.

First off, I feel like holy hammered shit. Spent my last hour of work puking what felt like engine grease.

Second, a very good man died today. My cousin of some sort, Robert Herbon passed on this afternoon.

Bob, an Ordained Lutheran minister, was one of my faves among the cousins. He was also one of the few who didn't become a Teutonic asshat after consuming mass quantities of beer. He married Mary V., another of the Brunhilde's in my mother's generation of my family. Mom also pointed out that in the last year, she's lost 2 cousins and her brother. what she left unsaid was the idea that she's got a target on her back for the scythe to swipe. And I can offer her no comfort there, since the way Lois is going (along with her Christian Science faith), the way Dan's going, Mom's probably going to be the last of her generation pretty soon. I know Lisa doesn't mean to do it, but she's not helping with her vulture-like prescence around Mom on occasion.

And the worst part is I will probably go through this as well. Being the youngest in my generation on both sides of the family (and having lost Lois Gamble, I'm already down a cousin. My half-sister Pat died a couple decades ago.), I'll probably get to watch as my cousins and brother, half-brothers and and half-sister die as well. Not to mention Mom, whenever that happens. (I'm praying for a long lifetime on that last one, but the woman is 71 and starting to get a few age related problems.)

I've said before, I was born into an old family. The next generation after me started on Dad's side before I was born, and I think Becca and Ria are 2 and 3 years younger than me. Most of my generation is married off and having children of their own. So I have a feeling most of the family gatherings will be funeral in nature over the next few years.

In the meantime, I guess Bob promised to make the Detroit Tigers get out of their slump once he got to Heaven.

Ok, today is the 2 year aniversary of my creating my very own LJ.

Spent most of my night at work listening to a Johnny Cash CD Dave (aka the driver I'm currently obsessed with) brought in for our memorial service.

Speaking of which...George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfield, Al Franken, Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, Sen. Kerry, Dick Cheney, and [ profile] gothic_oreo. Don't ask, I won't tell.

I wish I could figure out Dave, and why the hell I like him. He's a noob for crying out loud. He did, however, offer to burn me a few CD's of his MP3's based on music we've discussed at work. Seems he listens to the same eclectic shit I listen to, and therefore recommends stuff he thinks I might like. *sigh* It's been a long time since I've been able to discuss Rancid, Operation Ivy, Depeche Mode, and assorted other bands no one else has heard of. Kind of nice, really. Also amusing that he has a Pansy Division CD in his car. Half tempted to try to get him a copy of Age of Consent by Bronski Beat just for the hell of it.

RIP Johnny Cash and John Ritter.

Since a few people have died on here, I decided to be an LJ lemming and follow them to my untimely demise. I have asked for an open casket so you can say it to my face.

In the meantime, I had a great night at work filled with more Disco and 80's era rap than you can shake a stick at. Young MC anyone?
